  As a Writer & Producer

My writing is greatly inspired by classic literature, poets like Oscar Wilde and authors like Aldous Huxley. I like creating beautiful worlds with a tragic subject matter, and I want the spectacle of my films to reflect that. A common theme in my art is the marriage of beauty and the disturbing: to acknowledge life's many horrors and our patterns of survival. Whether we're talking about Doomsday or the labyrinth of our human psyches, what do we make of uncertainty? Like many A24 productions I'm inspired by, at the end of my films I want the audience to ask themselves what the heck they just watched while also having a deep and primal understanding of it.

  As a Director

I believe in Director's who are analytical and curious, and capable of cultivating a strong vision, while remaining collaborative and open-minded. My goal is to create a calm and efficient environment on set, inspire the creativity of my collaborators, and make sure everyone has what they need to get the job done. My focus with storytelling is to be as intentional with tone, emotion and timing as I possibly can because I believe them to be the key to a great film. Finally, it's important to be nerdy.
